WHO WE ARE?

Equality for Peace and Development Organization (EPDO) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Afghanistan, registered with the Ministry of Economy and with a membership of ACBAR. The NGO was founded in 2010 to empower Afghan youth in their communities and advocate for them at the policy level. EPDO’s work aims to contribute to Afghanistan’s transformation into a peaceful, prosperous, and welfare oriented state. One in which each and every citizen can enjoy equal rights without facing any form of discrimination. EPDO supports young leaders and civil society organisations to be actively engaged in addressing their and their community’s needs by influencing policy and governance in the country. EPDO envisions Afghanistan as a country where young leaders, civil society organizations and activists can freely collaborate, building coalitions and networks to support vulnerable communities and uphold human rights and peace.

We see one of the world’s most complex emergencies in Afghanistan and the largest humanitarian crisis. The crisis is multi-layered, stemming from the decades-long conflict, political instability and frequent climate disasters that have resulted in forced migration, internal displacement, widespread poverty, acute food insecurity, mental health issues, unemployment and rising social tensions. Persistent efforts by civil society organisations, activists, governments and funders are needed to build back Afghanistan as a peaceful and prosperous nation.
